Rainbow Honey Sweet Talk Review

I actually didn't order any of the Sweet Talk Collection and regretted it instantly...But...Rainbow Honey has sent me Sweet Talk and XOXO to review. *Jumps up and down*

Sweet Talk has a milky white base and is full of baby pink blossoms and purple glitter with iridescent and shimmery glitters. I found that the white base was actually slightly tinted pink which actually worked with the glitter pieces. This is 3 thin coats of Sweet Talk with topcoat.

XOXO has golden shimmer in a clear base along with gold, multi color pink and red glitter pieces. This is packed with perfect glitter pieces. There was no digging what-so-ever with this. I actually think this is the best glitter topper I've ever used. I'm not one for pink or gold really, but this is absolutely beautiful.

This is 2 thin coats of XOXO over various base colors: Gold, White, Coral and Raspberry Red. My ring finger has 2 coats of XOXO only.

Turquoise Nails

This is my attempt at Turquoise nails based on a method I saw a few other bloggers use. I guess you could also call this a recreation of OPI spotted too...maybe..kinda-sorta. You just have to adjust the size of the holes but you certainly could achieve that look using this technique.

Indoors - Artificial Light

I started with two coats of Julep Mystery Green #4 and then used some scrunched up seran-wrap to dab on Julep Robin (a robin's egg blue creme) and Julep Sienna (a metallic gold). To achieve the black spots I started with a cup of room temp water and 3 drops of OPI Black Onyx in the water. Once the polish spread out, I sprayed Rubbing Alcohol from about 8 inches above the cup between 2 and 4 times to get the black spots the way I liked. I chose a section of the design and dipped in my nail.

Outdoors - Shade

Outdoors - Direct Sunlight

After I got all my nails dipped and cleaned up I added a few dots of Sienna randomly across the nails. I liked the way the gold peaked through slightly from behind the black but also really liked the look of the additional golden dots.

So in the end, there was a bit too much black for me to think this actually looks like turquoise but I am loving the look!  What do you think?

Zoya Pixie Dust Gradient

Hello lovelies!

Today I'm showing off a Zoya Pixie Dust gradient using four polishes from the Summer 2013 Pixie Dust Collection.

In Shade

I started with two coats of Zoya Miranda, a raspberry pink, letting each coat dry for a few minutes  in order for it to have an even reasonable dry time. I then layered Destiny, Beatrix and Solange on a makeup sponge and dabbed onto my nail.

Destiny is a spunky coral red color, Beatrix is a gorgeous coral orange and Solange is sparkling gold. These Pixie Dusts are very similar in sparkle and shine versus the other Pixie Collections however the colors are vastly complex and bright in comparison.

In Sun

In Shade

The colors are beautiful in the sun, the shade, indoors, at night, yada yada yada. I love the texture with that bit of sparkle and I love that you don't have to worry about your finish fading.

Sweet Heart Polish Glamorous

Hello Lovelies! I'm back with another Sweet Heart Polish review. Today is my favorite polish that the lovely Cassandra has shared with me. Glamorous is a mix of gold glitter, iridescent glitter, purple stars and squares & large holographic pink dots in a clear suspension base.

I loved everything about this glitter! The gold is beautiful, the pink holographic dots are large enough to pack a punch, the bits of multi colors holo glitter allow for a little bit of something all over the nail, but the purple stars are my favorite. The glitter lays pretty flat once you've added some topcoat and it definitely helps to bring out the shine.

This is two coats of Julep Shenae with one coat of Glamorous and topcoat.

I had no problems at all getting the larger stars or pink dots to come out of the bottle. The consistency was perfect....not clumpy or thick and not too much suspension base. Pretty much a flawless application!

Deep, Rich and Warm

We've been having some big snow storms lately. On Tuesday we got about 7 more inches of snow so I was feeling like I needed something dark and warm on my nails. I reached for Zoya Isla, a rich and velvety black toned red shimmer and Gilty, Zoyas 18k gold flake topcoat.

This is two coats of Isla and Gilty on the tips of my nails. I also added a coat of Seche Vite to smooth it all out and add that high gloss shine.

I don't wear Gilty enough...god It's gorgeous!!

Urban Angels

Good morning darlings! Today I'm showing off some swag I won from Cosmetic Sanctuary's giveaway of some colors from the Anise Urban Angel 2012 Collection. The collection consists of 12 colors and Anise gave Lisa 6 colors to give away to 12 lucky winners. ☺ 

Today I have three colors to show you - Money to Burn, Deep Attraction and Wildcat.

Money to Burn (my favorite) is a deep teal metallic that has a golden shimmer. This is two coats and one coat of a cheap fast dry top coat.

Deep Attraction is a rich purple metallic with golden shimmer. This is three coats with top coat.
 

Wildcat is a buttery copper/bronze metallic that looks a bit more gold indoors. This was three thin coats to obtain full richness. Wildcat dried the slowest of the three and was thicker than the others so make sure to let each coat dry completely.

Outside - Sunlight

Outside - Cloudy

Wildcat applied the least smooth and brush strokes were more visible than with the others. This color also had the most difference in finish/color from sunlight to cloud cover. This is my least favorite mostly because it doesn't look good with my skin tone. 

Money to Burn and Deep Attraction both have a golden shimmer in the bottle that can be seen on the nail with only one coat, but once you build it up to completely opaque (generally 3 coats) that shimmer tends to get lost. I did notice that when using a cheap topcoat, it almost 'ate away' at the top layer of polish and the shimmer reappeared. It didn't mess up the finish of the final coat so this might be something you can do if you're looking for that golden shimmer on the nail. The golden shimmer didn't necessarily show in my pictures but is visible in real life.

Overall these polishes are pretty good. I've never used this brand before but it will definitely be a brand I pick up if the colors capture my attention.

Julep Sienna

Life has been beyond crazy. **Huge Sigh** I will be M.I.A for the next week and then I promise I will be back. I have 2 weeks of vacation coming up with nothing better to do than show some love to my collection. I'm planning on swatching a bunch of polish from recent hauls and that thought makes me very happy!

Today's a quick post of a Julep Sienna, described as a sophisticated gold metallic. This is a really great polish with a fantastic finish. This is two coats with Seche Vite.

I ended up adding some stamping using Zoya Jem. I was BEYOND PISSED that I smashed my nail on my camera as I picked it up! Especially since I've had limited nail time. Well I figured I'd show you these anyway because the colors were extremely great together.

China Glaze Bohemian Collection

Hi All! Ugh I've been so busy that I've had no time to play with polish. The first suckers I reached for were of course my lovelies from the China Glaze Bohemian Luster Chrome Collection. After seeing a few swatches on other blogs I decided to get only the polishes that I knew I was going to love. There are a few that are just totally not me (i.e. Swanky Silk, No Plain Jane).

All pictures are three thin coats but these are very well pigmented and two coats would be sufficient if applied properly. Brush strokes can be seen in the polish due to the chrome finish but that's to be expected. 

First up is Unpredictable which is described as a multidimensional green and I would have to completely agree with that. There are soo many different shades of green, and even blue, in this polish that no two pictures look the same. Here are a bunch to show you just how flashy this polish is!

 

 

Next is Want My Bawdy which was definitely the most sheer of these polishes. This goes on as a grayed out purple but as the coats add up the purple definitely becomes stronger. On the nail the duo chrome is barely existent but it changes from a purple to slight blue tint.

Deviantly Daring is my absolute favorite! This polish is soo rich in color and fabulousness I want to paint my walls with it! After buying my first bottle, I immediately bought two more. Yes I know I know, I'm obsessive. I can't help it. This has to be the best polish I've ever seen! It's described as a bold peacock teal and I think that suites it quite well. Of course my name for it would have been "Awesome Sauce"!

The last polish that I bought was Rare & Radiant. There was soo much fuss over this being yet another dupe for Chanel Peridot that I decided just to get it to see the big deal. I never wanted Peridot or OPI Just Spotted The Lizard because the color just didn't appeal to me. Now that I bought this and tried it out, I know I was right. The color is just not me. Coverage was good and the formula was just as nice as the others.

Overall I really like this Collection. There are some dupes or colors that we've seen before but I think that this was probably one of China Glaze's most anticipated collection in a while.

Side Note: I ordered these online from Head 2 Toe Beauty and this was my first time ordering from them. Since these have the 'special' silver caps I was kinda peeved when I received Unpredictable and the cap was all chewed up (you can see it in my bottle picture). Just because I ordered the product online doesn't mean I should get something that I wouldn't have picked up myself and bought at the store. After two completely unapologetic emails from customer service and pictures sent by me, I received a replacement cap. No brush...Just a cap that must have been on a red polish because there is traces of red inside the cap. I have no clue how to remove the brush from the damaged cap and put it into the new one. The larger problem is the completely ridiculous customer service. I cannot believe that no form of apology was ever made. Needless to say, I don't think that I will be ordering from them again.

Sorry for such a long post, but I hope that one more round of photos might help you make your decision if you have not yet gotten your hands on this collection.

Julep Maven August - It Girl

Morning Chicas! I got my August Julep Maven box the other day and wanted to show you some pictures of what I got. I received It Girl this month which comes with 3 polishes and added on the 2 Boho Glam polishes. Julep Maven was also celebrating their 1 year anniversary so they included a nice little tote bag in the box.

It Girl came with a liquid silver metallic chrome named Harley, a pastel indigo metallic chrome named Melanie and Sienna, a shimmery gold which was actually not a new polish launched in August. Harley looks like all the other silver polishes I own but Melanie and Sienna are both new colors to my stash. 

 

I added on a soft milky-white metallic named Isla and a mint-teal metallic chrome named Piper that were the 2 colors from the Boho Glam box. These are my two favorites out of all that I received this month. Both are soft colors but very beautiful. 

Overall, I don't think that any of these have that amazing 'chrome' finish that I am always searching for and never find, but they are pretty good. I'll pull together some full swatches sometime soon.

Fresh Paint Olive You

Hello Hello! I have another non traditional summer color for you today. My lovely mother-in-law just visited and she wanted her nails painted her favorite color of mine...Fresh Paint Olive You. So of course I obliged. I wanted to get away from all the neon pinks and oranges that you see on all the blogs right now since summer is in full swing, so I decided to show you a fresh way to spruce this polish up.

I have this poster in my office/nail polish room and love love love it! It's soo beautiful and inspiring in person. So this was essentially my inspiration for this spruce up to a wintery/fall olive green polish that has a shimmer of gold to it. Olive You alone is very nice, but I wanted to add that extra pop, so I reached for my teenie tiny bottle of Sally Girl Gold Glitter. These polishes are not named, so Gold Glitter is an obvious name to call it. I like this glitter because it applies pretty evenly and I like the combination of small and large hexagonal glitter pieces.

 

This is two coats of Olive You and one coat of Gold Glitter, no topcoat. Pictures were taken in indirect sunlight and were kind of a pain to get the right shade of Olive to show up since the sun was particularly bright this day. [Stupid Glare]
